Transformation Series

I wanted to do a project that really captured emotional transitions. In normal day-to-day life we cant physically see the moment when someone’s feelings change.  I thought to myself, how could I show this? What can I do with my camera that our eyes cannot see. Then I remembered that using a slow shutter speed has the ability to capture those instances by recording and slowing down motion. So with this idea in mind I buried myself in the studio for the next four and a half months. Using a slower shutter speed can be very unpredictable for the final outcome. You truly have no way of knowing what the camera will capture. It made my journey more of an exciting mystery. I played around with specific poses, lighting and using fabric to aid in the effect of motion and emotion. My final result depicts that transformation. These images are all self-portraits representing my life and my own self-struggle and happiness.
